Doing Business in the UAE

Get the Structure Right From the Start

The UAE offers two main routes — a mainland company for full access to the local market, or a free zone company often chosen for international trade. Both fall under Corporate Tax and VAT administered by the Federal Tax Authority. We help you choose correctly, then handle setup, tax and compliance under one roof.

Company Formation

Mainland or free zone setup with the right authority, activity and licence for your business.

Tax with the FTA

Corporate Tax and VAT registration and filing through the Federal Tax Authority, kept current.

ESR, AML & UBO

The UAE compliance regimes assessed and filed for the businesses they apply to.

Accounting

Bookkeeping, financial statements and records maintained to standard for reporting and audit.

UAE FAQs

Business in the UAE, Answered

What business services do you provide in the UAE?

We cover the full corporate lifecycle in the UAE — mainland and free zone company formation, trade licensing, Corporate Tax and VAT registration and filing with the Federal Tax Authority, accounting and bookkeeping, and compliance obligations such as ESR, AML and UBO. You can engage us for a single task or as end-to-end support.

Should I set up on the mainland or in a free zone?

It depends on your market and activity. A mainland company generally gives you the broadest access to the UAE domestic market, while a free zone company is often chosen for international and business-to-business trade and can access a preferential corporate tax treatment on qualifying income, subject to conditions. We assess your specific situation before recommending a structure rather than applying a one-size-fits-all answer.

What is the FTA?

The FTA (Federal Tax Authority) is the UAE’s federal tax authority, responsible for administering Corporate Tax and VAT through its online platform. Businesses generally register and file with the FTA once they meet the relevant requirements. We handle FTA registration and ongoing filing on your behalf.

Do free zone companies really pay no corporate tax?

Not automatically. A free zone company may qualify for a preferential rate on its qualifying income if it meets a set of conditions defined in the UAE Corporate Tax framework — including maintaining adequate substance and earning qualifying income. It is a status that has to be met and maintained, not an automatic exemption, and even qualifying companies are still required to register and file. We advise on whether your setup can meet these conditions. I’d recommend confirming current specifics with the FTA, as the rules have been updated over time.

What is VAT and does my UAE business need to register?

VAT (Value Added Tax) is a consumption tax on most goods and services in the UAE, administered by the FTA. Whether your business must register depends on your taxable turnover relative to the registration threshold. We assess your position and handle VAT registration and periodic filing where required. Because thresholds and rules can change, we confirm the current position at the time of setup.

What are ESR, AML and UBO obligations?

These are UAE compliance regimes: Economic Substance Regulations (ESR) require certain businesses to demonstrate real activity in the UAE; Anti-Money Laundering (AML) rules require particular businesses to maintain controls and reporting; and Ultimate Beneficial Owner (UBO) rules require companies to disclose who ultimately owns or controls them. We help you determine which apply to you and keep the associated filings in order.

Can you register a company in any UAE free zone?

We work across the UAE’s free zones — there are more than fifty, with well-known examples including JAFZA, DMCC, DAFZA and IFZA — and help you choose one suited to your activity, ownership and budget before handling the registration and licensing. The right free zone depends on your business, which we assess first.

Do you provide accounting and ongoing compliance after setup?

Yes. Beyond formation we provide bookkeeping, financial statements and ongoing Corporate Tax, VAT and compliance filing, so your UAE entity has consistent support rather than a different provider for each obligation.

Can you help with company setup across both Dubai and other Emirates?

Yes. While Dubai is a common base, we assist with mainland and free zone setups across the UAE and coordinate the corporate, tax and compliance side under one engagement.

Do you handle offshore company setup?

Yes. Alongside mainland and free zone options, we advise on offshore structures where they suit your goals — explaining the practical differences and what each can and cannot be used for — before handling the setup.
